I have taken a visualisation I created during my first year and have redone them in order to create a more realistic visualisation. I really like how the people seamlessly integrate within the site.

Shanghai Houtan Park is an area in Shanghai, China. I really like this site as each section along the park gives a different feel. The colours within the site complement each other nicely, as the bright red gives a more modern an formal feel as opposed to the planting which is quite an informal look.

In my first year of uni, I created a proposal but never made a proposed masterplan. For digital communication this year I created this masterplan to show my proposal from before. I did this using AutoCAD and Photoshop after I imported this into InDesign and added labels.

Here's a small skecth I did of a koi fish after seeing one out at a pet shop!

Noel Kingsberry

Image
I really enjoy Noel Kingsberry's work, he primarily uses large green bushy plants with smaller pockets of colour within the green. This causes your eye to look at the colour pockets and focus on it, which is a feature I find quite inspiring. His work is something I will definitely use as an inspiration in future planting projects as it combines all the things I like in planting: layers and bright stand out colour.

I've recently been watching the owl house and really really have been enjoying the scenery within the show. It's one of the main things that drew me to the show as the colour palette really appeals to me. I used alcohol based markers again as I really enjoy this medium.

Russell Page

Image
Russell Page is a landscape designer who primarily designed smaller-scale gardens, specifically many cottage gardens. There appears to be primarily a thread of topiary and large-scale greenery. In general, I find his work to be quite bland as far as plating with colour works as the colours are primarily monochromatic rather than a more complex colour palette. His work is usually quite formal, with many clipped box hedges and formal structures. Overall I find his work to be quite formal, making it rather boring to look at.

I tried the 3 colour combination again to try and feel a bit more creative and try and get some ideas.

I have put my masterplan and sketch-up file into twin motion and have added in flowers, trees and textures so I can create visualisations.

Gross max

Image
Gross max is a Landscape firm which primarily produces visualisations that appear heavily photoshopped. The visualisations often have exaggerated colours, giving a really bold impression of the sites which they are creating. I personally really like these visualisations and find them to really focus on the character and vibe of the site rather than the physical characteristics of the site. These projects also have a strong focus on colour and making sure that the colour which runs through the design is clear and intentional, which I think is really clear from looking at the visualisations.
