Dan Kiley

 

Dan Kiley uses symmetry and angles to show that he is "organising nature". His works appear pretty put together and heavily designed, rather than leaning into nature; I feel his designs are effective. Personally, I find some of his designs quite harsh, however, when water is included in the site, it appears a lot lighter, and I prefer his designs like this. His designs often include areas to sit in rather than just look at to provide an almost sanctuary-like effect. Overall I really like his ideas when designing and find them intriguing and appear quite a sensory experience.

  For St Aidans our brief has been to research the Seven Sacred Spaces. Each space has a different meaning, we need to make a garden based around these 7 spaces. After researching different bible verses there was one which really stood out to me about lilies which effectively said if god can take care of lilies he will take care of you. Therefore I believe within the st aidens design the base of it will be a lily as they have 6-7 petals.

Budget for Tatton

  A budget was created in order to show how we would spend the £750 if we were to be chosen for Tatton Park. The money would be stretched relatively thin and therefore we would probably need additional funding, especially for the plants which we will be using.

Final zoning Diagram

  I have created a functional diagram for the site, this will allow for me to create a more detailed masterplan. I have sectioned each area around a central point, which will be a meeting point for users. The site will have many nods to butterflies, which is my concept. The play areas will be really colourful and hopefully give some more character to the site.
