Piazza Della Repubblica

Image
When walking around Milan I walked through the Piazza Della Repubblica. This was a park area which was cut through by a main road. Although this is a really busy area of Milan it was a really gorgeous small park area which provided a break from the huge building that surround it. Due to the amount of tall vegetation and sculptures, it shields a lot of the viewpoints of the tall buildings. This causes the area to feel secluded and not part of the urban environment. Urban park areas like this are really something I feel is missing in the cityscape within the UK as usually, you will have to leave the city to be able to see this much vegetation.

Dissertation

In 2019 there was an RHS garden centred around the Year of Green Action which was sponsored by the Sensory Trust and Defra. The purpose of this garden is to allow children of all abilities to connect with nature . The garden has tactile living panels and many sensory plants. The plants are arranged to be a different experience as you travel through the garden. This causes the start of the garden to be vivid and stimulating through the noise and more overwhelming smells and colors, then as you walk further the garden becomes a lot quieter and calmer. The garden has been filled with “affordable, accessible features” that users of the garden can then “replicate in their own gardens".

Tree survey

Image
Today I redid my tree survey of Park Campus. This was done by walking around the site and noting down each tree. Although I did manage to get each tree in vaguely the correct location I do think in the future if I were to redo this I would instead create a tree survey layout using Autocad and google earth and then label each tree on site. This will mean I can know the exact location of each tree rather than "guessing" where it goes.
